Omar Said Charruf

Mexico City, 1980 / Lives and works in Mérida, Yucatán.
He studied Art Education at the Higher School of Arts in Yucatán, at the Active School of Photography, the Image Center and the Art Film School 7.
His work has been presented in various museums, galleries and public spaces in Senegal, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Taiwan, the United States, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Belize, Cuba and Mexico.
Among his individual exhibitions, the following stand out: Atlas, Lux Perpetua Art Center (2019), Floating Architecture, Spectacular Intervention, Higher School of Visual Arts of Yucatán, ESAY (2017), Out of Field, FrontGround - Manolo Rivero Gallery (2016), SUD 109, Frac des Pays de la Loire / Regional Fund for Contemporary Art, Carquefou, France (2015) and Explorations, Mérida Municipal Art Gallery / GAMM, City Museum (2014).
Among its recognitions are: Production Grant from the Municipal Fund for the Visual Arts Yucatán (2019), Residencia Cruzada Yucatán- Pays de la Loire, SEDECULTA-FRAC, Regional Fund for Contemporary Art, Carquefou, France (2015), Honorable Mention in the VII, VI and I National Biennial of Visual Arts of Yucatán (2015, 2013 and 2002), Mexico-Argentina Artistic Residence, FONCA - Ministry of Culture of the Argentine Nation (2014), Production Grant from the Municipal Fund for Visual Arts Yucatán (2014).
Founding member of the Guanábana Gallery (2019-20), founding member of FrontGround / Manolo Rivero Gallery (2007-17) and member of the FotoBuzón project, Public Photography Movement (2010-16).
From 2018 to the present, he is the owner of the Photography Workshop [Image Laboratory] of the Superior School of Visual Arts of Yucatán ESAY.
